Formula Student
Formula Student is a competition for students that has been held around the world for over 30 years. The goal of this challenge is to design an innovative, high-performance, energy-efficient single-seater. Initiated under the name Formula SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) in the United States, it is better known as Formula Student in Europe.
In addition to the technical development of the car, which must prove itself in the various events of the competition, the teams are tasked with designing a viable business plan and a marketing concept for the small-scale production of the vehicle they have developed. They then present it to a jury composed of experts from the automotive industry, the automotive industry, and motorsport.

Formula Student is a competition for students that has been organized around the world for over 30 years.
Each team can earn up to 1000 points in the 3 static and 5 dynamic disciplines offered. The best performing team in the different dominants (construction, performance on the circuit, financial planning and marketing strategy) wins the competition.
Finally, it should be noted that participation in Formula Student competitions allows engineering students to enrich their technical knowledge through very concrete practical experience. Indeed, students go as far as assembling a vehicle developed upstream, setting up a racing strategy, managing a team and setting up product management common to business methods.

Formula Student Tests

- Static tests
- Dynamic tests

Cost
The cost test focuses on the means of production as well as the cost of the vehicle. Each pole must make an inventory of the parts that are mounted on the car. It is then necessary to estimate the price of raw materials, production costs as well as assembly, to estimate the total price of our single-seater.
Total : 100 points

Business plan
The objective of the BP is to assess the team’s ability to develop and present a comprehensive business model. This business model must offer a product or a service based on the team’s specific prototype vehicle or a specific component of it, providing a rewarding business opportunity that creates a monetary profit.

Design event
The judges will study our technical choices and ask us for simulations, tests, calculations… to justify these choices. Points will be awarded based on the thinking behind our choices and their relevance.
Total : 150 points

Mechanical Inspection
A mechanical inspection of the car is carried out to check if it complies with the regulations. Once this has been validated, a tilt test is carried out to check if there are any leaks, but there is also a noise test and a brake test to be validated in order to finally be able to do the dynamic tests.

Autocross
The sprint is a one-lap autocross event on a winding circuit. Cars are tested on their stability, acceleration, and braking. This event requires a vehicle that is lightweight and efficient in all areas.
Total : 100 points

Skid Pad
The skid pad allows you to test the car’s cornering performance by running it around a figure 8 circuit. The secret to winning? Careful tuning of the running gear and aggressive aerodynamics!
Total : 75 points

Accélération
The acceleration test is a 75m straight start from a standing start. Longitudinal dynamics are essential for sizing a powerful engine and a fast gearbox, keys to success in this test.
Total : 75 points

Endurance
Endurance is the most complex test of the competitions, only the most reliable cars manage to cross the finish line. The 22 km on the sprint track also require a high-performance and perfectly balanced vehicle.
Total : 250 points

Efficiency
The fuel or electrical energy consumption of the car is measured in conjunction with the endurance test. Fuel or electrical energy consumption and lap times are combined to determine how efficiently the car uses fuel or electrical energy. Here, a trade-off must be found between speed and power.
