Formula Student 2024

Following successful qualification sessions through multiple-choice exams in January 2024, thanks to extensive preparation, we decided to attend the Formula Student competitions this summer in Spain (FS Spain) and Croatia (FS Alpe Adria). We went there to push our limits, but also to receive advice from the judges and the many teams that are more experienced and perform better than us, in order to help advance our association.

Formula Student Spain

At Formula Student Spain, the team presented a business plan project that integrated art and motorsport, marking a significant first step in the event. The static events, including the design and cost report, were well received, although some modifications were requested during scrutineering to fully validate the car.

After several efforts to pass the technical tests (tilt, noise, and brake test), the team was able to participate in the dynamic events, including the skid pad and the night acceleration on the Barcelona-Catalunya circuit. During the autocross, the car showed promising performance, which was crucial for determining the starting order for the endurance race.

The endurance event, a key and highly demanding challenge, was a partial success: the team completed the 22 km, a first in ten years, but a faulty part led to a disqualification during the post-race inspection. Despite this setback, the team demonstrated strong perseverance and exemplary teamwork throughout the competition, further building their experience for future events.

Finally, exchanges with the judges helped identify areas for improvement for the upcoming competitions.

Formula Student Alpe Adria

At the competition in Zagreb on the Bugatti-Rimac test track, the team successfully passed the mechanical inspections, the tilt test, and the noise test on the first attempt, and then obtained approval for the brake test. The dynamic events were marked by a technical challenge related to play in the drivetrain, requiring 24 hours of intense work to replace the bearrings. Thanks to this effort, the team was able to participate in the acceleration event, although the skidpad was missed.

Meanwhile, the static events went smoothly, allowing the team to qualify for the Business Plan finals, where they performed brilliantly in front of an audience. The day concluded with a parade of the cars, symbolizing the spirit of the competition.

During the endurance event, a loss of the exhaust shield forced the team to stop just before the last lap. Despite this premature end, the experience was marked by great determination and concluded with a strong 2nd place in the Business Plan Presentation, symbolizing a great finish to the combustion car chapter of EFT.
